首先让清洁块吸足水，用手挤去一些，保留约百分之七十的水分。手拿烙铁柄将已加热的烙铁头在清洁块上擦 两下，上面的锡层就光亮如新，烙铁头也就干净了，紧接下来即可实施焊接。
烙铁架须配合清洁绵使用。
使用时洒一点水到清洁绵上，遇水即会膨胀。海绵须泡水，不要太多但也不能太少，挤干多余水分，这样才可以使焊咀得到良好的清洁效果。如果不使用清洁海绵，会使焊咀受损而导致不上锡。
