1.木雕工艺品不宜长时间放在烈日下暴晒而开裂，所以在摆放的时候，就应该有意识的去注意，特别是不要把他们摆放在窗口。
2.木雕工艺品不宜放置在极潮湿或者极干燥的室内。在很潮湿的环境里，部分木雕工艺品就会长“毛”。例如绿檀工艺品就会吐出银白色的丝出来。太干燥的环境，木雕工艺品有的可能会部分出现开裂的现象。因此就要注意木雕工艺品不要对着空凋风口直吹。也不要把他放在暖气管的附近。
3.木雕工艺品不宜放置于明火、火墙、火炕、火炉的附近。
4.不宜用带水的毛巾擦拭，宜用含蜡质的或含油脂的纯棉毛巾擦拭为佳。也可以用纯棉毛巾蘸一些核桃仁油轻轻的擦在木雕工艺品的表面也可以达到理想的效果。不过切忌的是，不要用带水的毛巾擦拭，这样会使木雕工艺品过于潮湿，反而达不到预期的效果，而且还伤害了他们。
