在原纸上涂上蜡质涂层，然后用燧石反复摩擦产生光泽而制成的纸。具有很高的光泽度。较好的外观性能(无孔洞、无斑点、无大的尘埃)。较高的抗张强度和撕裂强度。原纸多使用木浆，也可配用部分草浆。蜡光纸分本白、漂白。根据产品需要可染成不同的颜色。使用二氧化硅(石英粉)作为白色颜料，还加有一些高熔点的蜡质物。胶黏剂以动物胶为宜。涂布后在磨石磨光器上反复磨光制成。也有使用不涂布的纸，仅通过燧石摩擦而取得蜡光效果。多用于装饰、精美包装等场合。
