其爬行装置采用双链轮、双链条式结构，将双链条固定在待割管道上并与双链轮链合。通过链轮的转动使爬管机沿链条爬行。切割时链条与管壁之间无相对运动，有效地解决了普通爬管机切割时易造成切割口偏移问题。
